SIDHA KURA JANATA SANGA

Rastriya Janata Party-
Nepal (RJP-N) has reiterated its decision to continue its protest programmes and not to take part in the second phase of local level elections slated for June 28. A meeting of the RJP-N held at its office in Bijulibazaar, Kathmandu, on Friday made the decision accusing the government of postponing the second phase of local polls in Province 2 in a unilateral manner. “The RJP-N meeting has decided to stick to its position of not participating in elections until the government addresses its demands,” read a statement issued by RJP-N Chairman Mahantha Thakur. “The party will continue its agitation as the government put off the polls against the agreement reached with it.” The pre-announced protest programmes of RJP-N will continue until the government addresses its demands, the statement added. The government on Thursday had decided to postpone the local level polls in Province 2 for September 18 to bring the agitating RJP-N on board the election process.
