May 2, 2017- The Constitutional Council on Tuesday recommended Deep Basnyat for the post of chief of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) should approve Basnyat's name for the appointment. Basnyat has been working as the acting CIAA Chief after an impeachment motion was registered against then chief Lok Man Singh Karki. Karki was automatically suspended from the top post of CIAA following the registration of impeachment motion against him, according to the constitutional provision. He was recommended as the chief of anti-graft constitutional body on the basis of seniority.
