Health Tips for Better Life

Apr 30, 2017- Lawmakers of the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre) on Sunday registered an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Sushila Karki at Parliament Secretariat. NC lawmaker Min Bishwokarma and Maoist Centre Chief Whip Tek Bahadur Basnet, among other parliamentarians, registered the motion signed by 249 lawmakers. According to the constitutional provision, an amendment motion can be filed at the parliament by garnering the support of at least one-fourth of the total number of lawmakers. The motion has accused Karki of interfering in the jurisdiction of executive and issuing verdict with prejudice. Attorney General Raman Shrestha said it was necessary to impeach the CJ for she tampered with the work performance evaluation of the IGP candidates. The development came a day before the slated date for final verdict on the case filed by DIG Nawaraj Silwal against the appointment of Prakash Aryal as Inspector General of Police. Karki has been automatically suspended from the post after the registration of impeachment motion against her.
